We had a great night Wednesday for Ale's birthday. Her friends are great as you can see!
Thursday was to be a busy day! I took a micro bus to San Borja Norte to see Omar's grandfather and meet the family. I thought I was taking them out to lunch but they had a HUGE lunch set out! I felt so bad for not bringing Ale but she was at work! It was nice of them. They spoke pretty much no english but it was good because I was able to use my spanish without worrying about the English speakers correcting me or being paranoid. I love the family they are soooo sweet. The food was great and Melba--one of Victors many children was so sweet and walked me back to the bus which took about three times as long as getting from the bus to the house!!
Straight from there I got ready to meet up with Joann and Leslie. With their school schedules it has been hard for us to find a time to meet but we settled on Thursday afternoon. Except I waited and waited at the Chilis in Ovalo Gutierrez and waited. No fun. For over and hour I sat at the bar and talked to the bar tender and ate American nachos (finally!). It was a bummer of a night. Also then couldnt get back into Ale's apartment because there was no one to answer the buzzer. Off to Pancho's I go!!! He kept me company for a bit since Ale didnt answer her phone. I returned to Ale's home---talked to Rosalba for awhile then took an amoxicilan, ib profin, and a sleeping pill and was happily in lala land. It was a busy day but fun even if the girls were a bit ditzy and stood me up.
Friday I woke feeling much better. Rosalba and I headed off for the coast and Lanco Mar! We ate at Mango's and just chatted for hours! The beaches in Lima are all pebbles no sand. Rosalba clearly misses the peace and quiet of the beach so we decided to try to get Ale to go to their beach house at Santa Maria. I think Rosalba has many fond memories of Ale and Antonio and her husband there so she misses it very much! Friday night when Ale got home we killed a little time then went to Miraflores to her favorite bar but it was early... we at least managed to stay out until 130am which is impressive for me! :) Wasn't able to meet up with joann as she was on Peruvian time and that means they don't get started going out until 2am!! Obviously this is a part of Peruvian culture that I wouldn't adjust to very well!!
Saturday Rosalba was having her childhood friend over for lunch and her son. I guess I feel an honored part of the family since they are trying to set me up !!hahaha. We watched soccer, ate, and had a good time. So much food that Patrick and I went for a walk to the Olivar parque. He speaks no english but is very nice so by the end my head hurt! Ale was gone to eat with her friend so she couldnt translate! We ended up going off so I could see more of Lima so lots of walking and a nasty nasty pisco sour! As I was waiting on Ale and thought she'd run off to a club (it was actually joann that sent the text!) I stayed out till 3am! yay for me being a big girl!! patrick's friends were nice and it was a fun experience!!! It became rough when I realized Patrick had no credit for any of his THREE phones so I couldnt get ahold of anyone. I wasn't successful in asking if I could buy credit! Oh well!!
Sunday--today we are being lazy before heading to the beach! santa Maria is only 45 minutes away but should be niceeee! Except Lucas is going. yay crazy dog!
