The WHY: In Breckenridge several years ago I met another semi-wandering soul named Jay. Jay now lives in San Francisco. He drove from CA to CO and from CO to VA where he is from... He hates driving... So I helped him drive to CA. I'd never driven those roads or west of Vegas outside of my rental car in LA for three days.
We took I70 to Hwy 50 to I80. Hwy 50 is known as the loneliest highway in America. For a reason.
However, it is beautiful. Had it not been covered with snow I'd not have been so enraptured.
Jay was wonderful to drive with as well. Unlike my one and only REAL road trip (AL to TX to CO) with someone who couldn't read a map and was racist.. the was lovely!
AND we saw Bald Eagles! So stinking cool!
